According to the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), employers are required to provide a safe environment for their workers, free of serious hazards and in compliance with OSHA regulations. OSHA requires that radiation exposure be limited so as not to compromise the health of employees.
Should an employee suspect unhealthy radiation levels or excessive exposure to radioactive materials, he should ask his employer about OSHA standards, worker injuries and illnesses, job hazards and workers’ rights. An employee may also file a discrimination complaint within 30 days if he is punished or discriminated against for exercising his safety and health rights, or for refusing to work when faced with an imminent danger of death or serious injury and there is insufficient time for OSHA to inspect.
